How to become a muslim
"There is no god but He: That is the witness of Allah, His angels, and those endued with knowledge, standing firm on justice. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Power, the Wise. The Religion before Allah is Islam (submission to His Will): Nor did the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) dissent therefrom except through envy of each other, after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the signs of Allah, Allah is swift in calling to account".
Anyone can become a Muslim if he or she says sincerely:
"La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasoolo Allah"
This Arabic phrase means "There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
Stating that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah does not make you disbelieve in Jesus - as many Christians may think - in fact Muslims love Jesus and believe in his miracles and message, perhaps even more so than many Christians today. Please read Jesus and the virgin Mary in the Quran
When we say 'there is no god' what we really mean is this: Any object (such as the sun or the moon), animal or human which some people refer to as gods are in fact NOT gods. Why are they not gods? Because all of them are creations themselves and the difference between a creator and a creation is vast.
If you believe that there is only one God (regardless of whether you call him God or Allah) and He created everything, then you are already Muslim - and you may not even know it!
The following extract from an article by Jerald Dirks talks more about this topic:
"Allah is not simply a nationalistic or ethnic god among a plurality of gods, as early Judaism appears to have maintained, and which at least one reading of the following Old Testament verse appears to imply. In that regard, it needs to be pointed out that the following verse, the first of the so-called Ten Commandments, does not deny the existence of other gods, but merely prioritizes which god is to be worshipped by the children of Israel, and establishes a preferred tribal deity, i.e., ‘the god of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob’..." continue reading Who is Allah? by Jerald Dirks.
